Owned and operated by Gavin and Renae McKenzie, McKenzie Music Etcetera has become synonymous with friendly service and high quality repairs, sales and hire of brass and woodwind instruments in Toowoomba, QLD.
Since founding the business in 2006 Gavin and his wife Renae have continued to develop the business to meet the needs of their wide client base.
McKenzie Music Etcetera are brass and woodwind specialists, providing a one-stop shop that covers everything from servicing and repairs to a great range of beginner and intermediate instruments and accessories, including mouthpieces, reeds, cases, lubricants, music stands, tutor books and much more. The shop has also recently expanded its range to include percussion and drum kits.

Gavin has been teaching and playing music professionally in the Darling Downs area for over 17 years. His passion for music began when he started playing the saxophone and percussion at the age of 8. Since then he has been involved in a wide range of ensembles including concert bands, orchestras and stage bands.
Gavin attended the University of Southern Queensland where he completed a Bachelor of Music as well as his A. Mus. A. on alto saxophone. Gavin then completed Musical Instrument Repair training and is a fully qualified Instrumental Repair Technician. He has completed extensive training in dent removal, polishing and plating, soldering, brass and woodwind instrument setups, machine and tool usage, workshop procedures and retail experience. Gavin is a member of NAPBIRT- the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians.
Gavin also teaches drums, saxophone and clarinet privately and at local schools, St Ursula's College, The Glennie School and Toowoomba Grammar School.
In his spare time, Gavin is also Musical Director and lead alto in the successful local band, The Cool Nights Big Band. The band has plays regular performances each year and has traveled across Eastern Australia playing to large audiences. Through Cool Nights and other bands he has had the opportunity to play music with world renowned artists.
Renae has played lower brass for over 15 years, specialising in trombone and tuba, playing in local and professional level ensembles since high school. She plays in various bands, ensembles and local productions in Toowoomba and surrounds and is one of the longest serving members of the Cool Nights Big Band. She has played with many well-known musicians, including Kate Ceberano, Ross Irwin, Deni Hines and James Morrison.
Renae has a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Visual Design and Marketing, and when she isn't handling the day-to-day management and marketing of McKenzie Music Etcetera, she runs her own freelance design business, Venecia Designs.
